DUI Checkpoint Announced For This Marin County Town: Police

Police said they will be conducting an upcoming DUI checkpoint and have just announced when and where.

NOVATO, CA — Police will hold a DUI checkpoint Friday in Novato.

The Novato Police Department has planned a DUI checkpoint for Friday but have not shared the time or location.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” said Novato Sergeant Reza Pourfarhani. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.”

Police said they determine checkpoint locations based on data that shows incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.

The NPD are reminding the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol but also some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Cannabis may be legal to use in California but it is still illegal to drive under the influence, police said.
