Fire Board to Award Contract for Station Rebuild

Ignacio station is falling apart, and two firms are to be interviewed for the job.

Two firms will be interviewed to be project manager for the rebuilding of the Ignacio fire station during a special session of the Board of Directors on Tuesday.

Concord-based Harris & Associates and Sacramento-based Kitchell CEM are in the running for the job, which entails a total rebuild of Station 64 at 319 Enfrente Road. The station serves the Bel Marin Keys and Ignacio areas and often aides on calls in Marinwood. The station is the second busiest in Novato, according to the district’s website.

The station, built in 1976, houses one paramedic engine company staffed by a captain, an engineer and a firefighter/paramedic, according to the website. Two firefighter/paramedics staff the Advanced Life Support paramedic ambulance based at the station.

The fire district has determined that the station is structurally unsound and does not have adequate space for its personnel, gear and vehicles.

The board expects to deliberate and vote on a project manager at the meeting, which starts at 5:30 p.m. in the second-floor conference room at Station 61, 7025 Redwood Blvd. For a complete meeting outline, see the attached agenda.
