If the Shoe Fits: Birkenstock Gets Ready for 'Homecoming'

The employees at Birkenstock shoe company sure seem happy about their impending move out of Hamilton Landing back to the iconic building near the eastern foot of Mount Burdell.

When the , it was learned that the company's five-year lease for the Hamilton space was set to expire this year. Now, the has reported that lots of the workers are excited to return to the place where the company was located from 1992 to 2007.

Although one long-vacant building will soon be occupied on the north side of town, it creates an opening at Hamilton Landing. There aren't too many retail businesses and restaurants near old Hamilton hangars, but they could be hit by the loss of a few patrons because of the move.
