Marin Fight Prompts Brief Shelter-In-Place

Police are asking residents to check their surveillance cameras for video that could help them with their investigation.

NOVATO, CA — One person is in custody and an investigation is underway after a fight Thursday night between several people prompted a brief shelter-in-place for a Novato neighborhood.

The fight was reported on Arthur Street, and a vehicle associated with the incident was then tracked to nearby Buchanan Street, Novato police said.

Several people fled from the car, but police detained one suspect, a 19-year-old man.

Police issued a shelter-in-place advisory about 8:15 p.m. for the area of 1518 Buchanan St. but lifted it shortly before 9 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with surveillance cameras in the 1500 block of Buchanan Street to review their footage between 7:55 p.m. and 8:10 p.m.
