Marin Firm Pledges $55K For Youth Sustainability Awards
The annual awards program will recognize six youths making a difference in their communities through sustainability leadership.
NOVATO, CA — A Marin company on Monday pledged $55,000 in prize money to its inaugural program that aims to promote youth sustainability leadership.
The California Youth Sustainability Awards is presented by CG Roxane, the Novato-based operator of Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water that partners with environmental organizations including American Forests and the California Coastal Commission (CCC).
The annual awards program will recognize six youths making a difference in their communities through sustainability leadership.

The program is offering a top prize of $20,000, two $10,000 awards and three $5,000 prizes.
“It’s wonderful young Californians will be celebrated for sustainability efforts that are making a positive, lasting impact on our planet,” CCC Marine Debris Program Manager Eben Schwartz said in a statement.

Those selected will be offered a tour of the company’s tour CG Roxane’s San Bernardino PET recycling plant.
Candidates are required to have been a California resident for at least a year at the time of their submission.
They must U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens under the age of 21 who can show an action they’ve taken promoting sustainability.
Candidates will be asked to share three short essays.
The deadline to submit an application is Oct. 15 and winners will be announced on Nov. 15, which is America Recycles Day.
The applicants will be judged by a panel that includes the CCC.
CG Roxane has since 2008 sponsored California Coastal Cleanup Day since 2008, an annual statewide volunteer event that focuses on marine environment protection.
