Why are you seeking elective office?

For the past 11 years, I have served on the Novato City Council and currently serve as Mayor. In that time, my passion and commitment to serve in my home community has only grown stronger. Now that I am raising a family of my own, I want to continue to shape Marin County for future generations.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have the strongest track record of volunteering and giving back to the local community long before I was ever elected to the City Council. I was a youth soccer coach, youth director, volunteer chaplain with the Novato Police Department, and a Parks and Recreation Commissioner. In addition, I bring 11 years experience in local government having served on the City Council since 2011. Also, my strong business background and experience managing large budget, projects, and teams will provide depth to the current board of supervisors. Finally, as a father of young children, I bring a perspective that has been missing for several decades.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

Resiliency from wildfires, sea level rise, and climate change to ensure our communities are safe and our critical infrastructure is protected.

Recovery for our local economy and small businesses as we come through the pandemic.

Responsiveness for working families, youth, older adults, and disadvantaged communities to ensure they have the support and services they need to thrive.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

In terms of preparing to represent Novato on the Board of Supervisors, I can’t think of a better experience than having served on the Novato City Council. The District 5 boundaries encompass most of the city limits. My experience as a council member, a mayor, and a board member on several county and regional boards enables me to strongly represent and effectively advocate for District 5 residents starting on my first day as a Marin County Supervisor.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. - Robert Brault

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

It would be an honor to represent you on the Marin County Board of Supervisors.
