Missing 11-Year-Old Girl Found In Marin County: Police

Over 60 search and rescue personnel responded to look for an 11-year-old girl with autism who was reported missing, police said.

NOVATO, CA — Marin County Search and Rescue found an 11-year-old girl with autism who was reported missing Sunday morning in Novato, police said.

Just after 10 a.m. on Sunday, the Novato Police Department requested assistance from Marin SAR to look for the 11-year-old girl who was last seen on surveillance video leaving her home an hour earlier.

Over 60 SAR members responded to support NPD, along with deputies and the Sheriff’s UAV team, Marin County Open Space Rangers, California Highway Patrol field and aviation, and Novato Fire Protection District.

At 11:30 a.m., the girl was found by a sheriff’s deputy safe, walking along a street several blocks away.

Right after the girl was found, the NPD then requested SAR for an evidence search about a mile away.

Fifty-six members pivoted to the new mission, which was completed after several hours of extensive searching, officials said.
