MARIN COUNTY, CA -- The biotechnology startup Mount Tam Biotechnologies, which had been based in Novato, has moved its headquarters to Vermont.

Mount Tam Biotech, which was founded in 2014 and develops pharmaceuticals, has a one-year lease to operate out of a Burlington, Vermont location through the end of November, after quietly leaving Novato a few months ago, according to a May 20 article in the North Bay Business Journal.

The reason for the move, Mount Tam Chief Financial Officer James Stapleton told the Business Journal is that the company’s CEO, Richard Marshak, is based in Vermont. Marshak joined the company as CEO in March 2016, but has had been based in Vermont since the end of 2017, Stapleton said.
