Novato 1,081-Home Development Proposed: Report

The proposal calls around 20 percent of homes in the proposed development to be affordable by city standards.

NOVATO, CA — A Bay Area developer wants to build upwards of 1,000 homes in Novato, The Marin Independent Journal reports.

The news outlet cited a conceptual plan for Bay West Development’s proposal for the former Fireman’s Fund campus that was submitted to the city.

The proposal calls for the construction of 1,081 new homes, around 20 percent of which would be affordable by city standards according to the report.

Bay West Development is proposing blend of single-family homes, townhomes and apartments at the 63-acre property, the report said.

Bay West Development will hold a neighborhood meeting later this month seeking the public’s input on the proposal.

The meeting will be held July 29 at 6 p.m. at City Hall (901 Sherman Ave.).
