Novato Reckless Driving Suspect Survives Gnarly Plunge: Cops

The driver went down an embankment near the Hamilton Pool stairs, police said Thursday. The driver wasn't hurt but could face legal trouble.

NOVATO, CA — A reckless driving suspect survived a plunge from a Novato embankment, but they could be facing legal trouble, according to police.

Investigators referred a criminal complaint against the driver to the Marin County District Attorney's Office for reckless driving, Novato Police Department Capt. Sahsa D’Amico wrote on Nextdoor on Thursday.

Officers were responding to reports of a blue Ford Mustang driving recklessly in the parking lot above the Hamilton Pool that matched the description of the involved vehicle, D’Amico said.

“The driver lost control of his car, caused a collision, and went down an embankment near the stairs to Hamilton Pool,” D’Amico said.

“Luckily, no one was injured during this incident.”

The crash occurred in an area where police have received a steady stream of complaints about reckless driving, D’Amico said.

“Reckless driving is extremely dangerous and affects every driver on the road,” D’Amico said. If you see a reckless or possibly impaired driver, call 911 to report it. “We all share the road together and have an obligation to each other to drive responsibly.”
