Novato School District Names New Interim Administrators

Nancy Neu and Louise Koenig have both previously served the NUSD in administrative roles.

NOVATO, CA — The Novato Unified School District this week announced the hiring of two interim administrators.

Nancy Neu and Louise Koenig will share the assistant superintendent of human resources for the spring semester. They started in their new roles Tuesday, the NUSD said in a statement.

Barbara Vrankovich served in this role during the fall semester but the scope of her work was limited by retirement restrictions, the NUSD said.

Neu and Koenig are retired administrators with NUSD experience.

A search to fill this role permanently will start in the early spring.

“We are lucky to have Nancy Neu and Louise Koenig as Assistant Superintendent’s in a shared contract for the second semester,” Superintendent Jan La Torre-Derby said in a statement.

“We are so fortunate to have these women who care deeply for NUSD to help guide our work through June 2022.”

Neu previously served as a teacher, principal, deputy superintendent, and interim superintendent in NUSD.

She served as principal at Redwood High School and supports Shoreline School District as a consultant. Neu has also served as the Superintendent in the Nicasio School District.

Koenig previously served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and director of human resources at the NUSD.

Both Neu and Koenig had children and now grandchildren in NUSD.

“They are committed to working with NUSD with compassion and have skill sets to support NUSD until the position is filled,” the NUSD said in a statement.
