Novato Star Student Has Passion For Oceans
Savannah volunteers at the Marine Mammal Center and interns on a whale watching boat out of Monterey. Her goal: become a marine biologist.

NOVATO, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Stephanie Flowers who nominated Savannah of Novato.

How do you know the star local student?
She's my daughter
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
She has a passion to save our ocean and the animals in it. She interns on a whale watching boat out of Monterey to monitor whales and other ocean life to track and determine patterns of feeding, etc. She is also on the youth crew at the Marine Mammal Center where she assists in the rehab of sea lion and seal pups. Savannah writes almost every paper on oceanic research and ways to improve our oceans health. She has maintained greater than a 4.0 gpa to attempt to secure entry to one of our UCs so that she can pursue a degree in marine biology to achieve her dream of helping our oceans.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
She is passionate, caring and humble
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Savannah!
