• Verizon seeks new cell towers in northern Novato (marinij.com) — Cell service along Highway 101 at the Marin-Sonoma line could improve as Verizon seeks county approval to replace two existing towers with taller masts on Corda Ranch land in unincorporated Novato. Marin planners are still reviewing the application, which aims to boost coverage for commuters while staying within federal safety limits, with a decision expected early next year.
   

• Marin transportation agency might tweak spending mix (marinij.com) — Marin’s transportation agency is considering shifting Measure AA sales tax funds to create a new ‘reimagined roadway’ program while also boosting money for school crossing guards, including at Olive Elementary in Novato. The draft plan, out in January for public comment, could steer millions toward major corridor projects but may trim what’s available for local road maintenance.
