Rash of Overnight Vehicle Burglaries in Southern Novato

The following information from June 8-10 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

June 8

7:15 a.m. —Jewelry and sunglasses were reported stolen from a gray Toyota Prius in the 900 block of Sunnybrae Lane.

7:36 a.m. — A wallet and speakers were reported stolen from a gray Nissan Rogue on Oak Crest Court.

7:59 a.m. — A vehicle burglary was reported in the 900 block of Sunnybrae Lane.

8:02 a.m. — A purse was reported stolen from a Toyota Highlander in the 900 block of Sunnybrae Lane said.

8:52 a.m. — A man on Moffett Court who attempted suicide was transported to Marin General Hospital for medical treatment.

10:35 a.m. — A vehicle burglary was reported in the 900 block of Sunnybrae Lane.

2:41 p.m. — Two people were seen looking into a resident's windows in the 400 block of Fairway Drive. A vehicle vandalism at the residence was reported 24 minutes later.

3:26 p.m. — A residential burglary was reported in the 2200 block of Center Road. A suspect appeared to come through a bedroom window and stole a laptop and camera.

4:08 p.m. — Juveniles walking by a security office of a building in the 2000 block of Novato Boulevard reported seeing the manager viewing pornographic photos on a laptop computer. The employee removed the laptop after discovering what the juveniles had witnessed.

4:17 p.m. — An assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue. A man said another man pulled a knife on him. One man was arrested.

4:54 p.m. — A landlord-tenant dispute was reported on Newport Landing Drive. Both parties were advised to avoid contact with each other.

5:18 p.m. — A woman was reported to be on the roof of a liquor store in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue screaming obscenities from a megaphone.

5:38 p.m. — A student at Novato High was believed to be under the influence of a substance. A juvenile was cited for possessing marijuana as well as a smoking device and released to a parent.

5:58 p.m. — A woman reported a family altercation in the 7000 block of Redwood Boulevard. She said her son got angry and punched her when she took away his cell phone as a punishment for not following rules.

6:35 p.m. — A white four-door car was seen spinning doughnuts on the access road to Hannah Ranch near Costco. The vehicle was gone on police arrival.

6:51 p.m. — Checkbooks, passports and an ATM card were reported stolen from two cars on Scottsdale Way.

June 9

12:53 a.m. — A man who said he fell and had too much to drink is found to be neglecting to take medication for mental illness. The subject's father was willing to pick him up, but he was instead transported to Marin General Hospital's psychiatric unit.

7:32 a.m. — A resident of the 1300 block of Yukon Way was notified by Home Depot that unknown people were making charges on the resident's account at Home Depot stores throughout the Bay Area.

10:44 a.m. — A wedding ring is reported missing from an apartment in the 300 block of Rowland Boulevard. The reporting party says another man has keys to the apartment and things have been missing when he has been there.

12:43 p.m. — A birdbath was stolen overnight from a home on Tyler Street. The reporting party said there are ongoing issues between 9 a.m. and 3 a.m. every night.

12:49 p.m. — Someone called to voice concern about a child left alone in a running car at Vintage Oaks shopping center. Officers found an 11-year-old locked in a car with the air conditioning running for less than 10 minutes. The mother was advised of the complaint.

1:50 p.m. — Police assistance is requested at the site of a vehicle accident in the 400 block of San Marin Drive. Two vehicles were involved and one lane was blocked.

3:01 p.m. — A suspected drunken driver was arrested on Jade Court.

4:07 p.m. — Someone reported a woman in her 40s with a Russian accent wandering the parking lot at Vintage Oaks shopping center with her son while soliciting for money. Police were unable to locate them.

4:45 p.m. — An assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard. One person was arrested on suspicion of pulling a knife on a bar bouncer.

6:05 p.m. — A male juvenile was transported to juvenile hall after threatening his parents and brandishing a knife toward the stepfather in the 1100 block of Third Street.

6:38 p.m. — A no injury accident was reported in the 100 block of Rowland Boulevard at the southbound Highway 101 offramp.

7:18 p.m. — Assistance was requested at the site of two small grass fires in the 200 block of Bolling Circle.

7:36 p.m. — A dog was struck and killed in the 800 block of Lamont Avenue. No witnesses were found.

8:16 p.m. — Advice given to a woman who continues to receive text messages from a former friend who was warned to stop communicating with her.

9:32 p.m. — A kidnapping claim from a woman in the 600 block of Plum Street was found to be without merit.

9:54 p.m. — Two men believed to be drunk were about to get into a fight in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue, according to a reporting party. The subjects fled upon officer arrival.

10:16 p.m. — Two windows were smashed and a door was found open at a vacant home in the 200 block of Sunset Drive.

10:21 p.m. — Shots were reported heard near a residence on Truman Drive, but officers were unable to locate the source.

11:03 p.m. — A domestic violence incident was investigated on Aronia Lane.

June 10

12:19 a.m. — Two men who appeared homeless were seen dragging another person into some bushes near the Chevron gas station on Rowland Way. One man was booked at Marin County Jail on suspicion of being drunk in public.

12:30 a.m. — An altercation between roommates was reported on Plaza Loma. The reporting party said a man fought with his roommates' girlfriend and punched holes in a wall. The resident did not request assistance from police.

2:39 a.m. — A man was reportedly throwing rocks at the window of a residence in the 700 block of Cherry Street. No damage to the window was observed and the subject was gone on police arrival.

4:47 a.m. — A man reported two men in his apartment stealing items in the 1100 block of Elm Drive. Two cell phones, keys, a wallet and a credit card were stolen before the men ran away. Two men were booked on suspicion of burglary.

6:58 a.m. — A woman said her daughter's psychological medication was not working after the daughter, who lives alone on Leafwood Drive, said the mafia was out to get her and other delusional statements. The daughter was not at the residence when police arrived.

8:22 a.m. — A piece of Pablo Picasso artwork connected to an earlier theft report was found on a hillside trail near Obertz Lane. It was retrieved and placed into the police evidence room.

10:50 a.m. — A black Ford Ranger pickup was taken during the night from the 7400 block of Redwood Boulevard. The vehicle was later recovered.

11:32 a.m. — The body of a dead man was recovered from a residence in the 1100 block of Olive Avenue after the man's father said he hadn't been able to get in touch with his son for two days.

1:26 p.m. — A hit-and-run was reported in Hamilton. A white Kia was struck by a gray two-door sports car in the 600 block of Palm Drive. The driver appeared to be a white man in his 50s.

1:45 p.m. — A silver Honda Civic was reported stole from the 200 block of Sunset Parkway. The key had been stuck in the ignition, so the owner had left it in the car.

2:27 p.m. — A reckless driver was reported near the corner of San Carlos Way and San Marin Drive. The driver of a silver SUV tried to run another driver off the road. The vehicle was not at the owner's registered address.

4:12 p.m. — A no injury vehicle accident was reported on Oliva Court.

4:49 p.m. — Unknown subjects were seen throwing water balloons out of an apartment window at passing vehicles in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard. Officers were unable to locate the subjects.

6:54 p.m. — A man in the 7100 block of Redwood Boulevard said he is being followed by a "beautiful" woman who threatened to kill him. One subject was booked on suspicion of drunken driving.

7:44 p.m. — An 18-year-old woman and her grandmother were involved in an argument over personal property in the 1100 block of Seventh Street. One woman was arrested on suspicion of battery on a peace officer.

9:21 p.m. — An employee who quit his job at a business in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard is accused of sending harassing text messages and emails to another employee. Advice was given.

9:54 p.m. — A woman complained that a neighbor was taking photographs of her children despite a restraining order against the person. No contact was made and no violations of the restraining order took place.
