Road Closures In This Bay Area County For Annual Block Party To End The Summer

Every year, this town celebrates the beginning and ending of the summer with a free street party.

NOVATO, CA — Police will shut down a couple of main roads Thursday in downtown Novato to make way for the free Rock the Block End of Summer Event.

In 2018, the Downtown Novato Business Association kicked off their inaugural Rock The Block events to celebrate the beginning and ending of summer.

On two summer Thursday evenings, one at the start and one at the end of summer, food and beverage vendors set up on Grant Avenue alongside games and activities for all ages.

This end of the summer event is centered around The Soul Section, a Bay Area band that performs funk and soul music of the '60s and '70s.

The Novato Police Department announced they will close Grant Avenue between Machin and Reichert avenues from 4-10 p.m. and Sherman Avenue between De Long and Grant avenues from 1-10 p.m. on Thursday.

Cain Lane will remain open.

The event is located between the Novato Downtown SMART Station and the Redwood Boulevard/Grant Avenue Transit Station. Additionally, bike racks are available near the market on Sherman Avenue at Cain Lane and in the City Administrative Offices Parking Lot.

The NPD expect traffic delays as a result of the event.
