Singers Represent San Marin at Regional Honor Choir
Isabel Block, Madeline Ford were among a select few chosen to perform at Palo Alto concert.
seniors Isabel Block and Madeline "Scottie" Ford hit all the high notes Nov. 20 in Palo Alto when they represented Marin County at the American Choral Directors' California Coastal Region Honor Choir performance.
The girls sang "Dancing-Song," "Hosanna," "How Can I Keep From Singing" and "Walk in Jerusalem." Both girls auditioned for the regional honor choir this fall in Santa Rosa and were chosen based on their performance of an Italian art song, sight-reading, tonal memory and music theory., according to the San Marin music department.
Block, a soprano, spent part of the summer in voice training at Boston University's Tanglewood Institute and gave a command performance in March at the Sonoma State University Solo and Ensemble Festival. Ford, who moved to Novato this year from Kentucky, is an alto who also plays guitar. Both girls are active in San Marin's music programs and musical theater productions.
