Storm Downs Trees, Spurs Power Outages In Novato
High winds downed trees and power lines across the region, leaving thousands in Marin without power Monday morning.
NOVATO, CA β Hazardous winds and wet weather downed trees and power lines around Novato Sunday evening, leading to outages and at least one significant road closure, officials said.
The Novato Fire Protection District closed an eastbound stretch DeLong Avenue Sunday evening after a tree fell across the roadway. Novato police on Monday said another tree fell onto Alameda del Prado, taking a PG&E pole with it and blocking the roadway between Posada del Sol and Dusel Court.
More than 16,000 customers remained without power across Marin County at 10 a.m. Monday, including nearly 400 in Novato. Nearly half of the impacts were felt in unincorporated Marin, where more than 8,000 customers were still without power.

According to the National Weather Service, Marin County recorded many of the Bay Area's strongest wind gusts Sunday, reaching 89 mph in both Lucas Valley and Point Reyes, and breaking 100 mph at Pablo Point.
