Town Mourns Beloved Former City Manager Of Novato Following Death
The former city manager held the position for 17 years before retiring in 1992, officials said.
NOVATO, CA — The City of Novato is mourning the passing of former City Manager Phil Brown, officials announced Monday.
Brown served as Novato’s City Manager for 17 years, retiring in 1992 after 39 years of public service.
"A true friend of Novato, Phil was deeply dedicated to the community he loved," the City of Novato posted on social media.

After his years at City Hall, Brown served as a member and president of the Rotary Club of Novato, participated in community projects, volunteered as a docent at the Hamilton Field History Museum and contributed to the Novato Finance Advisory Commission.
He was named Novato Citizen of the Year in 2018.

"Phil Brown embodied the very best of public service, leadership and community spirit. Novato is a better place because of his vision, dedication and friendship. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered," the City posted.
