Truck Fire Quickly Extinguished on 101

No one injured in 7 a.m. blaze near Atherton exit.

A truck's engine compartment burst into flames Monday morning on Highway 101 in Novato, but the driver got out safely and no one was injured, according to the .

Engineer Mike Taul said a call was received at 7 a.m. for a truck fire on the shoulder of northbound 101 just north of the San Marin Drive/Atherton Avenue onramp. Engines from the downtown fire station and the Atherton station arrived and found the engine compartment ablaze, Taul said.

The driver had pulled the truck to the side of the road and got out safely. Taul said the truck's cargo compartment was full of tools.
