Upcoming Closures Planned For Novato Creek Bridge Project
Drilling work needed to inform construction planning for a new bridge will require a few late-night closures this month.
NOVATO, CA — Preliminary work needed for the Novato Creek Bridge replacement will require a few lane closures along State Route 37 over a few nights this month, according to Caltrans. The closures will allow crews to begin exploratory drilling work to determine the foundation needed to support the new bridge.

The first round of evening closures will see one eastbound lane closed in the area between Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. A full eastbound closure will be in place for the same hours from Monday, Oct. 14, to Thursday, Oct. 17.
During the latter closure, drivers can use the U.S. 101 off-ramp to detour onto Atherton Avenue and rejoin State Route 37 at Black Point.

According to Caltrans, the bridge replacement will help reduce stormwater flooding and adapt to the projected 2130 sea-level rise. The first phase of construction on the new bridge is scheduled to begin in 2027.
