Weather Service Warns of Critical Fire Conditions in North Bay Hills

A fire could spread quickly, officials say.

The dangerous combination of gusty offshore winds and dry brush prompted the National Weather Service to a issue a red flag warning for the North Bay Mountains and other locations in the Bay Area beginning at 10 p.m. Monday through 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The weather service warns that that due to low humidity “any new ignitions will experience rapid fire growth.” Offshore wind speeds are expected to reach five to 10 miles per hour, with gusts reaching 25 mph.
