Too often, our interactions with those in uniform and with Veterans are limited to a perfunctory “Thank you for your service!”, when we really don’t know what that service means, or how to converse with a Veteran.

On Saturday, November 5, the City of Novato and the Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise will host the fifth annual “Conversations with Veterans” forum, from 9:00-10:30 am, at Novato City Hall.

Honoring Veterans Day, the audience will hear from and be able to converse with Veterans and a Blue Star Mom about their own experiences with Military service and what they believe civilians should understand about their service.
“Conversations” brings together Jim Stein, U.S. Army, Vietnam Veteran, Sean Stephens, U.S. Army, Veteran of four combat tours to Afghanistan, Ernie Bergman, U.S. Navy, Vietnam Veteran, and Susan Wernick, Blue Star Mom of U.S. Army Captain Ben Wernick.

Novato Mayor Eric Lucan and Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise past President Sylvia Barry will co-host, and Gil Sanborn, Civilian Aides to the Secretary of the Army, will serve as Moderator.
