2 Arrested In String Of Storage Unit Burglaries In North County
Investigators found 19 firearms, nearly $100,000 in U.S. currency, as well as and comic books, cards and other collectibles.
VISTA, CA — Two people were arrested in connection with a string of storage unit burglaries in northern San Diego County, authorities said.
Beginning in June 2025, detectives from the Vista Sheriff's Station began investigating a fraud case that involved people using stolen personal identifying information to lease storage units, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. Investigators discovered the suspects were involved in five storage unit burglaries in Valley Center, six storage unit burglaries in Escondido and two storage unit burglaries in Oceanside.

Detectives served three search warrants between Oct. 28 and Nov. 13, including at a home un the 300 block of W. Los Angeles Drive in Vista. Investigators found a total of 19 firearms, nearly $100,000 in U.S. currency, as well as and comic books, cards and other collectibles valued in millions of dollars.

Kyle Henely, 43, and Veronica Merlo, 40, were arrested on suspicion of multiple felony charges, including burglary, fraud, grand theft and conspiracy. Both were booked into the Vista Detention Facility. Henely and Merlo were later re-booked on additional charges stemming from burglaries in Valley Center and Escondido.
