OCEANSIDE, CA — If your Memorial Day plans include a trip to the beach, be on alert: the National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for Oceanside and the entire San Diego and Orange County Coastal areas. The alert starts Sunday at 2 pm and continues through Tuesday at 9 pm. Elevated surf of 5 to 8 feet is expected, along with a high risk of strong rip currents that will create dangerous swimming conditions.

In Oceanside, wind gusts up to 20 mph are expected on Sunday with mild temperatures up to 70 degrees with 57% cloud cover early that should give way to sun by the afternoon. Monday is expected to have similar conditions with areas of low clouds early; otherwise, mostly sunny, according to Accuweather.
