Camp Pendleton Marine to be Awarded Silver Star

A Camp Pendleton Marine will be awarded a Silver Star on base Friday.
Sgt. Matthew T. Woodall, of Paducah, KY, displayed "conspicuous gallantry" during a July 2011 firefight in the Sangin district of Helmand Province, according to a Marine Corps release.
Maj. Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson will present the award at 12 p.m. at the 5th Marine Regiment parade deck on Camp San Mateo.

Woodall received an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps last year.
