Healing Art Program Offered for Wounded Warrior Battalion Military
Healing for Heroes Therapeutic Art Program Free to Wounded Warrior Battalion Military on Camp Pendleton
The Laguna Hills-based nonprofit Art & Creativity for Healing proudly provides its HEALING FOR HEROES therapeutic Art4Healing® workshop at Camp Pendleton for military at no cost. The sessions are held on base at Wounded Warrior Battalion West located at 27847 Lakeside Drive in Oceanside every Monday from 1000-1200 and available to all military connected to the Wounded Warrior Battalion.
For the past twenty years, Art & Creativity for Healing has facilitated hundreds of Healing for Heroes workshops at Camp Pendleton. Originally designed for active military personnel and their families, participants are led by a facilitator through a series of prompts as they respond by painting abstractly with acrylic colors on canvas for self- reflection.
A participant and active marine said, “The Art4Healing classes helped me express some things that I didn’t really have words for. I like the privacy of painting abstractly - it helps me feel free to say what I need to say.”

Art & Creativity for Healing Founder/Director Laurie Zagon says, “It has truly been an honor to facilitate our Art4Healing® workshops for the Wounded Warrior Battalion West located on the Camp Pendleton Marine Base for the past 20 years. These men and women represent the heroes that protect our country.”
A Wounded Warrior Battalion Commanding Officer confirms that this is a valuable program to help marines through grief or other mental health challenges. He says the Art4Healing®, has helped many marines open up and share their feelings through art when words fail.

“I was having one of the worst days. I felt hopeless and wanted to hide away and cry. A friend encouraged me to come to your class and it was the best choice I made,” said an active marine participant following a session.
