Heat Advisory Issued For Oceanside

National Weather Service heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. Friday for Oceanside's coastal areas and valleys.

OCEANSIDE, CA — Temperatures are rising fast this week throughout Oceanside and San Diego County. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the county's coastal areas and valleys.

The heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. Friday for San Diego County Coastal Areas. High temperatures are expected up to 96 degrees in the coastal areas and up to 100 degrees in the valleys, according to the National Weather Service. The hottest temps are expected on Thursday and Friday.

"Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses to occur," forecasters warned.

Weather officials recommend people drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heatstroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
