We all know someone who's making a difference in this difficult time. Let's help share these amazing stories!

OCEANSIDE, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

This submission comes from Robert Pruitt of Capistrano Beach, who nominated Jeff Cornell of Oceanside. Pruitt is a volunteer truck driver for Family Assistance Ministries and receives his schedule and routes from Cornell.

Jeff Cornell

Is the nominee considered an “essential worker”?:

Yes

What does the nominee do for work?:

He runs the entire warehouse, coordinating the daily truck routes to the various stores, directly goes through the tons of food that come back in and gets it ready for distribution. The food not only goes to our own pantry, but is loaded on other trucks for distribution to other church panties. He also drives up to Second Harvest Food Bank a number of times a week to pick up pallets of food. This is only a small part of what he does daily and he puts in over 100 hours a week.

Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?

This organization's food programs would cease to function without his tireless dedication. And that's not an exaggeration.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?:

His cheerful demeanor and work ethic inspires us all to suit up and show up.
