McDonald’s Egg McMuffin Is 50: Get It For 63 Cents In Oceanside
McDonald's is selling its classic Egg McMuffin for 63 cents Thursday to celebrate its 50th birthday. Here's how to get it in Oceanside.

OCEANSIDE, CA — Happy 50th Birthday Egg McMuffin! You can have a breakfast party like it’s 1971 on Thursday at McDonald’s restaurants in Oceanside when the price of an Egg McMuffin goes back to the original price of 63 cents.
"The Egg McMuffin, the first-ever quick service restaurant breakfast sandwich, joined the McDonald's menu in 1971 in Santa Barbara, California, and customers have been getting creative with it ever since," Molly McKenna, McDonald's senior director of brand communications, said in a news release.
The promotion runs from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, and is offered exclusively on the McDonald’s app.

The Egg McMuffin is getting something for its birthday, too. As part of the celebration, McDonald’s shared “fan hacks” that turn the sandwich into something else when combined with something else on the menu.
One example: “Sweet Chicken Sammie,” an Egg McMuffin topped with a McChicken Biscuit and syrup. To trick it up more, set the English muffins aside and put a serving of hash browns on either side.
Franchisee Herb Peterson compared the Egg McMuffin to eggs Benedict on the go when he created the sandwich in 1971. In 1975, McDonald’s restaurants across the country started offering the sandwich.
