Motorcyclist Killed In Fatal Crash With SUV In North County

Sheriff's officials said the rider attempted to avoid colliding with the vehicle, but was ejected from the motorcycle.

VISTA, CA — A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday in a collision involving an SUV in northern San Diego County.

The crash was reported around 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of North Melrose Drive in Vista, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

The motorcyclist was riding northbound on North Melrose Drive when an SUV merged onto North Melrose Drive, heading westbound to Dove Circle. Sheriff's officials said the motorcyclist attempted to avoid colliding with the vehicle, but was ejected from the motorcycle and landed along the west curb line of the southbound lanes.

Despite lifesaving measures, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies during the investigation, officials said.

The collision was being investigated by the Vista Sheriff's Station Traffic Unit. Anyone with additional information about the crash was asked to call the Vista Sheriff's Station at 760-940-4551.
