'Nayleen Is Truly Amazing': Vista Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Vista.

VISTA, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we're working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Jeanne Griffith who nominated Nayleen of Vista, California.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Nayleen was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 8th grade. After surgery, radiation treatment, and two years of chemo, Nayleen is finally enjoying being a high school student. This year she has joined clubs, the golf team and even employment at a retirement home.
Due to the brain tumor Nayleen's vision has been impaired. She has accomplished amazing things, especially being a normal high school student. Recently, she was selected as the R.Y.L.A. representative for her school, and Student of the Year for the Resource Department. We are so blessed to have Nayleen in our family.
