Rail Service Suspended Between Oceanside & San Diego On Oct 2-3
COASTER and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner services along the coastal rail corridor will be suspended this weekend for planned rail work.

OCEANSIDE, CA — Planning a trip this weekend? You will need to find alternate transportation if you were considering taking a train.
This weekend, all COASTER and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner services along the San Diego segment of the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) coastal rail corridor will be suspended due to a planned Absolute Work Window (AWW). No passenger or freight trains will operate between Oceanside and Downtown San Diego from October 2nd through October 3rd, beginning Saturday morning at 12:00 a.m. to Monday morning at 5:00 a.m
AWWs are select weekends that provide crews safe access to work uninterrupted directly along the rail line while all rail services are halted to meet significant construction milestones.

About the LOSSAN Program
Today, the San Diego segment of the LOSSAN (Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo) coastal rail line accommodates more than 50 passenger and freight trains each day, moving more than 7 million people and $1 billion in goods annually. As these numbers are projected to grow, SANDAG is working in collaboration with NCTD to improve the San Diego segment, including a primary effort to double track the majority of the LOSSAN corridor from Orange County to Downtown San Diego. Double tracking allows trains traveling in opposite directions to pass without slowing down or stopping, increasing the overall efficiency and reliability of the corridor. Other infrastructure improvements along the LOSSAN corridor include bridge and track replacements, new platforms, pedestrian crossings, and other safety and operational enhancements.
