Rain Storm Headed To Oceanside Beginning Monday Afternoon
As the storm rotates through the area, it will trigger a High Surf Advisory in effect from 11 am Monday through Wednesday morning.
OCEANSIDE, CA — A storm system pounding the northwestern tier of the nation will gradually slide across California, bringing rain to Oceanside starting early Monday afternoon throughout the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
North County commuters can expect traffic conditions to be wet and slow going for the afternoon commute. A High Surf Advisory is also in effect from October 25, 11:00 AM until October 27, 03:00 AM. Large breaking waves of 6 to 8 feet with sets to 10 feet are expected for San Diego County.
High rip current risk is expected, which can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea and cause drowning. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.

Forecasters said that the deep trough originating from the Gulf of Alaska will dive into Central California over the weekend and drop into the bottom half of the state by Sunday night, tapping into an "atmospheric river" that will fuel widespread showers across San Diego county.
"Higher rainfall totals are expected for Central California, but we will still see widespread precipitation in Southern California on Monday," according to an NWS statement. "Broad southwest flow will enhance the upslope flow, and the rainfall amounts in the San Bernardino Mountains, where 1 to 1 1/2 inches of precipitation is forecast. In the Inland Empire and Orange County, rainfall amounts of .3 to .75 inches are forecast."

The Weather Service noted that the system will not generate appreciable snowfall at higher elevations because it is enveloped by "warm, subtropical" air. "Snow levels will drop to around 7,500 feet Tuesday morning once the system passes, but little, if any, precipitation will fall during that time," the NWS stated. "So this will be an all-rain event for the mountain communities.
The trough will trundle east on Tuesday, overtaken by a ridge of high pressure that will restore dry conditions, forecasters said.
