Spring Storm Brings Wind And High Surf Advisory For Oceanside
The National Weather Service has issued both Wind and High Surf alerts for coastal areas throughout San Diego County and Orange County.
OCEANSIDE, CA — Following days of record-breaking heat a spring storm is bringing some much-needed rain to the area with expected rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Accompanying the rain are gusty winds and high surf, according to the National Weather Service.
On Monday morning the National Weather Service SAN DIEGO CA issued two Urgent Weather Messages for the county.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO 5 PM PDT THIS AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...South winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph expected.

* WHERE...Orange County Coastal Areas, San Diego County Valleys, Orange County Inland Areas and San Diego County Coastal Areas.
* WHEN...From 9 AM this morning to 5 PM PDT this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.
Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may
result.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.
High Surf Advisory
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM PDT WEDNESDAY...
...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS CANCELLED...
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet with local sets to
10 feet in southern San Diego County.
* WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas and Orange County
Coastal Areas.
* WHEN...Until 2 AM PDT Wednesday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Surf of 3 to 6 feet today will increase to
5 to 8 feet tonight and continue Tuesday before gradually
subsiding Tuesday night. Highest surf will be on exposed west-
facing beaches, especially south of La Jolla.
* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
