Walmart to Open 'Neighborhood Market' Grocery Store on Mission Avenue in Oceanside

The grocery store would be Walmart's fourth Neighborhood Market in San Diego's North County.

Walmart will open North County's first Neighborhood Market grocery store in a vacant building at 1046 Mission Avenue, the company announced Wednesday.

"This new store will put an empty commercial space back to work for our residents, providing affordable goods and high-quality jobs," Deputy Mayor Jerry Kern stated.

The store would create some 65 jobs, according to the company.

The store would be Walmart's fourth store in the city; the other three are supercenters. The company has about 250 Neighborhood Markets, including 24 in California, according to the announcement.

The Oceanside store will feature energy-efficient lighting and plumbing, the announcement added. Construction will begin as early as this month, Ben Sullivan, of the City of Oceanside told Patch.
