4 Orange County Deputies Hurt In Chain-Reaction Crash During Arrest

Four Orange County deputies were hurt early Tuesday when authorities said they were hit in a chain-reaction crash during an arrest.

YORBA LINDA, CA — Four Orange County deputies were hurt early Tuesday in Yorba Linda when authorities said they were hit in a chain-reaction crash during an arrest.

A driver heading south on Imperial Highway crashed into multiple patrol units around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. The impact sent a sheriff's department vehicle into four deputies, who were arresting a man suspected of a misdemeanor crime.

The deputies suffered minor to moderate injuries and were all taken to hospitals for treatment, authorities said. The suspect was detained in the back of a patrol vehicle when the wreck happened and also suffered minor injuries. The suspect was also taken to a hospital for treatment.

The driver in the wreck was arrested by California Highway Patrol officers on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.

No names were immediately released.
