Myers was a volunteer at several churches throughout Orange County, including Grace Community Church in Garden Grove from 1995 to 2013 and, most recently, MidCities Baptist Church in Westminster, the sheriff's department said.

The sheriff's department said the assault did not happen at those churches.

A pastor at MidCities Baptist, who was not identified, told CBS Los Angeles that Myers was a member of the church's choir and was never a volunteer for the children's ministry, nor was he left alone with a child.

Sheriff's investigators were looking for any other children who may have been assaulted.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff's department at 714-647-7419 or to submit anonymous tips to OC Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
