Disneyland Shuts Down 8 Rides Amid Busy Halloween Season

ANAHEIM, CA — Eight Disneyland attractions will be closed for seasonal refurbishments amid the Anaheim theme park's busiest time of the season.

It's a Small World, King Arthur Carousel, Goofy's Sky School, Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes, Sailing Ship Columbia, "Mickey's PhilaharMagic," Pixie Hollow and "Fantasmic" will temporarily close in October as part of the standard refurbishment schedule at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

The eight new attraction closures join Big Thunder Mountain, Storybook Land Canal Boats, Casey Jr. Circus Train and "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" that were already closed for refurbishment.

Here's a run down on the scheduled closures at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure:

• Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes is currently closed through Thursday, Oct. 2 and will close two more times on October for seasonal refurbishment Oct. 6-9 and Oct. 13-16.
• The Sailing Ship Columbia will be out of commission on Oct. 1-2 and Oct. 13-16.
• King Arthur Carousal in Fantasyland will shut down for its annual transformation into holiday mode Oct. 31 through Nov. 13.
• The "Fantasmic" nighttime spectacular on Disneyland's Rivers of America will go dark Oct. 1-2, Oct. 6-9, Oct. 13-16 and Oct. 27-30.
• Pixie Hollow in Fantasyland will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays in October.
• Big Thunder Mountain in Disneyland's Frontierland closed Sept. 2 from an extended refurbishment through at least Nov. 11.
• Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train will remain closed through at least Nov. 11.
