Former Angels Staffer Eric Kay Convicted In Death Of Tyler Skaggs

The Los Angeles Times reported a jury found Eric Kay guilty Thursday of providing the fentanyl that led to Tyler Skagg's death in 2019.

FORT WORTH, TX — A former Los Angeles Angels employee was found guilty Thursday for providing the fentanyl that resulted in the 2019 death of 27-year-old Tyler Skaggs, the Los Angeles Times reported.

A federal jury in Forth Worth, Texas found 47-year-old Eric Kay, the team's former communications director, guilty of drug distribution and for providing the fentanyl that resulted in Skaggs death, the paper reported.

Skaggs, who pitched for the Angels, was found dead on July 1, 2019, in a hotel room outside of Dallas. He had choked on his vomit after taking fentanyl given to him by Kay.

Kay faces up to a minimum of 20-years in prison.

Several former Angels players testified Tuesday that Kay had illegally given them oxycodone pills. The players testified in court that Kay would regularly obtain drugs for players between 2017 and 2019.
