Garden Grove Man Rescued From Apartment Fire

Residents in Garden Grove kept an apartment fire at bay using a garden hose and fire extinguisher until firefighters arrived, OCFA reported.

GARDEN GROVE, CA — A Garden Grove man is in critical condition after being found unconscious in an apartment that caught fire Tuesday morning, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

The man was taken to UC Irvine Medical, and no further information about him is available, authorities said.

The fire happened around 10:44 a.m. in the 8600 block of Trask Avenue on the bottom floor of an apartment, the Orange County Fire Authority said on Twitter.

Neighbors in a nearby apartment used a garden hose and fire extinguisher to keep the fire from growing until firefighters arrived, fire authorities said.

The man was found unconscious in an upstairs bedroom of the apartment, which had filled with smoke. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, OCFA officials said.
