Armstrong took to Twitter on Saturday asking his fans to send "any sighting, tips or info" about his car to the police, saying it "has been in the [Green Day] family for over 30 years."
When the car was found, Armstrong jokingly posted on Instagram the theft was a false alarm, and he had forgotten where it was parked.
"Truth is the person that stole it left it parked. Joy ride? Maybe, who knows," Armstrong said. "We live in desperate times. Thank god it’s all in one piece. No damage."
Armstrong also thanked his fans for keeping an eye out for his car.
