Here are the top stories today in Orange County:
- Expect brisk weather on Valentine's Day! Wintry weather returns this week, with cold temperatures and wind gusts up to 40 m.p.h. in Orange County. The National Weather Service issued a wind hazard advisory for Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, San Clemente, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove, Irvine, Orange, Fullerton and Mission Viejo. - A shoutout to Orange County residents who collected coats and blankets this weekend for victims of the devastating earthquake in Turkey. Dozens of OC charitable clubs gathered on Sunday to collect the coats and blankets for victims of the deadly earthquake. More than 30,000 people have died in the disaster. Turkish Airlines will deliver the donated clothing and blankets to earthquake victims. (CBS Los Angeles)
- Things are looking up at John Wayne Airport, which had almost 1 million travelers in December 2022. In December 2020, at the height of the pandemic, only 231,033 passengers flew in and out of the airport. If you do the numbers, (thank you, OC.gov) December travel through the airport increased by 308.7 percent over 2020! (OC.gov)
