Hit-And-Run Driver Who Fatally Struck Man Sought In OC

Authorities Tuesday sought the public's help in tracking down a driver wanted in a deadly hit-and-run crash with a man earlier this month.

ANAHEIM, CA — Authorities sought the public's help Tuesday in finding a driver wanted in a deadly hit-and-run crash with a pedestrian in August.

The crash was reported just before midnight Aug. 9 at Knott and Orange avenues, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

The pedestrian was struck by a red or maroon car, police said. He was taken to a hospital where he died Aug. 12, authorities said.

The victim was identified as 58-year-old Gary Henry Looper. According to Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, Looper was homeless.

Looper was crossing Knott north of Orange when he was hit by the car, authorities said. The driver fled the scene.
