Irvine Police Investigate Possible Murder-Suicide Involving 3 People

Irvine police believe the bodies belonged to members of the same family: a father, mother and adult son.

IRVINE, CA — Irvine police are investigating what they believe was a murder-suicide after the bodies of three adults were found in a house Wednesday morning.

Investigators believed the bodies were of a father, mother and adult son who all lived at the house in the 50 block of Riverboat, Irvine Police Department Lt. Bill Bingham said.

But Bingham said the bodies were in a severely decomposed state, and it will take time before a positive identification is made.

Police found no signs of forced entry to the house, and evidence at the scene suggested that the deaths resulted from a murder-suicide in a "domestic-related incident," Bingham said.

Irvine police officers discovered the bodies around 10:30 a.m. after going to the house to conduct a welfare check on the residents at the behest of Canadian authorities, Bingham said. Relatives of the house's residents had not heard from the family for more than a year and were worried about their well-being.
