📰 Here are the top stories today in Orange County:
- Two suspects are under arrest for Thursday’s shooting of a 19-year-old man at Athel Avenue and Sego Street in Irvine. A 21-year-old woman from Irvine and a 22-year-old man from Tustin “were arrested without incident.” Reportedly, the victim was targeted, and the killing occurred at a "pre-arranged meet-up spot." (Patch)
- The Garden Grove Police Department seized around 35 pounds of drugs after K9 Rocky sniffed them out during what was supposed to be a bust for MDMA only. The canine sniffer led to the discovery of “over 19 lbs. of MDMA, 14 lbs. of counterfeit Adderall, 2.3 lbs. of cocaine, and 1260 Alprazolam pills.” Good doggie! (Garden Grove PD)
- And while we’re on the topic of dogs, the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) rescued an OC Chihuahua with a paw stuck in a bathtub drain. Engine 19 visited the home, removed the tub drain with the dog paw inside, and “skillfully took away layers of the metal grate, so they could ultimately free him.” (Orange County Fire Authority)
- Does your dog violate Laguna Beach’s rules for excessive barking? The city council now defines “30 minutes of continuous barking or an hour of intermittent barking within a 24-hour period” as a public nuisance. Officials believe the volume of warnings and citations will decrease when enforcement is less subjective. Critics say that an “irritated next-door neighbor” isn’t the best source of information. (Voice of OC)
- Habitat for Humanity of OC served an Army veteran last Sunday. The veteran had served in Iraq and Kuwait and now lives in Anaheim. “The initiative aimed to address necessary repairs and renovations to ensure a safe and comfortable dwelling.” Volunteers also painted the home’s exterior. (CBS)
