Man Charged In The Rape Of A Woman In Anaheim

SANTA ANA, CA — A 25-year-old man was charged Thursday with raping a woman in her 60s in Anaheim.

Akash Jayesh Patel is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting the woman, with whom he was previously acquainted, on Sunday, police said.

Patel was arrested at his home in Anaheim on Tuesday.

Patel was charged with rape, sodomy by force, forcible oral copulation and kidnapping to commit a sex crime, all felonies. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.

Patel did not enter a plea during his arraignment in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana on Thursday and was ordered to return to court for the hearing on Feb. 14.
