The 61-year-old victim was stabbed numerous times and suffered "significant blood loss," Sutter said.
Officers who responded to the scene stanched the blood loss with tourniquets until paramedics could arrive and rush the victim to an area hospital in critical condition, Sutter said. The officers were credited with helping to save the victim's life.
Mobley did not enter a plea at his arraignment Thursday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. The hearing was rescheduled for Oct. 9 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
