Man Who Threatened OC Monastery Had Guns, Armor, Brass Knuckles In Car: Police
An Alabama man was arrested after he visited a Catholic Monastery in Silverado and threatened the staff.

SILVERADO, CA — A 38-year-old Alabama man was arrested for making criminal threats toward a Catholic monastery in Orange County, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.
According to deputies, responding officers found body armor, high-capacity magazines, brass knuckles and knives inside the vehicle belonging to Joshua Michael Richardson after he visited St. Michael's Abbey in Silverado Canyon and threatened the staff.
The threats were first brought to the OCSD on Thursday, Aug. 28, when sheriff's department personnel were contacted regarded suspicious, threatening emails sent to St. Micheal's Abbey.

The emails were followed by an in-person visit to the church, which a priest at the Abbey reported to the OCSD.
"While incidents like this can feel unsettling, they also highlight the power of community. If something seems off, say something," an OCSD statement read. "Trust your instincts and report suspicious activity, whether it is a strange message, unusual behavior or something that does not sit right."

The investigation into the matter is ongoing, authorities said.
