  1. Police said thieves who stole $560,000 in jewelry in a daytime Orange County robbery are on the loose. Three men got out of their car at a stoplight on a freeway off-ramp Thursday and smashed the window of a vehicle behind them that was transporting jewelry, authorities said. The three men in their 30s grabbed a bag of jewelry from the back seat. The victims chased the suspects and crashed into their vehicle at the intersection of Magnolia Street and Trask Avenue, but the robbers escaped. (Orange County Patch)
  2. People are on the move, but where is everyone going? Stacker compiled a list estimating the number of people who moved to Orange County between 2015 and 2019. You may be surprised to learn that most people moved to Orange County from Los Angeles. Over the four years, 11,879 LA residents moved to Orange County. 3. Thankfully, the rain in Orange County from storms this week didn't result in the catastrophes and evacuations the Central Coast experienced, but SoCal firefighters are prepared for another stormy weekend. Capt. Sean Doran of the Orange County Fire Authority said, while no major weather-related emergencies were reported in Huntington Beach, flooding "repeatedly shut down a section of the Pacific Coast Highway between Warner Avenue and Seapoint Street." (Los Angeles Times)
  4. Nine OC businesses were robbed in less than three hours on Wednesday. Security video on Jan. 11 shows two males wearing hoodies "using rocks" to break glass doors at a strip mall in Rancho Santa Margarita. Five OC businesses, including a Starbucks, were broken into in Rancho Santa Margarita. Businesses in Laguna Hills and Mission Viejo were also robbed between 12:30 a.m. and 2:45 a.m., police said. No arrests were made as of Thursday night. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OC County Sheriff's Department: (FOX 11 Los Angeles)
