This OC City Is Lowering Speed Limits On 160+ Roads

The north Orange County city will be changing out 368 existing speed limit signs and putting up 155 additional ones.

ANAHEIM, CA — Changes are coming to the speed limits in the City of Anaheim, with over 500 signs changing during August, the city announced this week.

"We're lowering speed limits to make our streets safer — the faster the speed, the higher the risk of a severe crash with serious injuries or death," the city said in a news release.

According to the city, the speed limit changes will affect main roads including: Harbor Boulevard, State College Boulevard, Brookhurst Street, Broadway, Weir Canyon Road, Kraemer Boulevard, Romneya Drive, Olive Street and many others.

For a detailed list of upcoming changes, residents can visit the City of Anaheim's website.

Most of the new speed limits are being lowered by 5 mph, with most changing from 40 mph to 35 mph. Another 10 are going down by 10 mph, the city said.

In total, the city said 169 sections of road will see reduced speed limits and 158 will remain unchanged. The city will also be changing out 368 existing speed limit signs and putting up 155 additional ones.

Residents can expect an Anaheim Police Department presence along the mentioned roads as officers educate motorists with warnings, the city said.
